Meet the Minister

Welcome to our website.  I trust you’ll find the information helpful, giving you a flavour of the life of the church.  You are welcome at any time.  As minister, I’d be delighted to meet and talk with you, so please get in touch using the contact details on the site. 

A bit of background.  I began as minister at St. Catherine’s Argyle on 23rd January 2009, having previously served as assistant to the previous minister in 2003/04.  Until the end of 2008, I have been working in London, as Director of Ministry at The Proclamation Trust.

My work in London included teaching, writing and plenty of ministry opportunities  across London and the South of England.  Increasingly I found myself spending lots of time with students

Along with David Jackman, who is President of The Proclamation Trust, I edit  the 'Teach the Bible' Series of Commentaries which is published by Christian Focus Publications.

Before entering the ministry, I studied English Language at Edinburgh University and then switched from words to numbers, training as a CA with Ernst & Young, Chartered Accountants.  Following that, I spent four years lecturing in accounting and finance at the School of Management, Heriot-Watt University, completing a PhD in business ethics.  In 1999 I began studying theology at New College in Edinburgh.

I am married to Sally and we have three lively children. Leisure time is fun as a family and (for dad) the occasional triathlon or 10k run!
