The book group meets around twice a term.  The evening starts with dinner together, followed by a discussion about a book that the group has recently read.  The books are chosen to allow readers to bring their Christian mind and worldview to a book that is not typically Christian.

The books read have taken the group from Edinburgh to Afghanistan, the far east and Africa, and back through a variety of periods in history.

Recent reading includes:

Arthur and George by Julian Barnes

Doors Open by Ian Rankin

The Horizontal Instrument by Christopher Wilkins

Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortensen

Our next book will be Winter’s Bone by Daniel Woodrell.   It is the story of Ree Dolly, a teenage girl, whose father is in and out of prison and whose mother has given up. The story follows her search for her father after he jumps bail, having put the family home up as security. Ree has to face down hard men and tough women, uncover family secrets and seek out the truth in her quest.

We’ll be meeting to talk about it on Monday March 12th.  Please contact the office if you’d like to come, or to know more.
